Ivan TesolkinFounder, Clear107

RemotePilot101 is a video course built by Jason Schappert, a flight instructor and the founder of MzeroA.com, and it is organized the way a ground school is: lessons on rules, airspace, weather, loading, crew resource management, airport operations, radio, emergencies and maintenance, then a final exam. Clear107 takes the other route: a diagnostic first, then targeted drills. Both get people through the same FAA test; they suit different learners.

What is in each?

RemotePilot101's course page lists ten lessons of short videos, from Part 107 eligibility and Class B through G airspace to METARs, TAFs, load factor, hazardous attitudes, NOTAMs and TFRs, lost link and flyaways, and preflight checklists, ending with a two-hour final exam. It also says it will help you submit your knowledge test to the FAA to get your certificate.

Clear107 has no video. It has a written handbook organized by the FAA's ACS codes, a bank of 1,281 questions with 496 built on FAA charts and figures, drills that follow your missed questions, a readiness score, and a 60-question simulator with Practice Pass in the real exam format. Free tools such as the METAR decoder, civil twilight calculator and flashcards need no account.
