Part 107 study tools for visual learners
Learn Part 107 by seeing it: FAA figure chart trainers, a METAR and TAF decoder, decision trees for people and Remote ID rules, and a loading planner.
Updated
If you learn better by seeing than by reading, Part 107 has a lot to offer, because a large part of the exam is visual. Airspace questions use sectional chart figures from the FAA testing supplement, and weather questions use coded METAR and TAF reports. Clear107 turns both into interactive practice.
Which tool covers which exam topic?
| Tool | What it does | Exam area |
|---|---|---|
| Sectional chart trainers | Clickable hotspots explain each symbol on real FAA figures | Airspace |
| METAR and TAF decoder | Tap each token to decode it; flags Part 107 limit violations | Weather |
| Rule decision trees | Step through Operations Over People and Remote ID one condition at a time | Regulations |
| Weight planner | See how payload and battery change your margin | Loading and performance |
| Preflight checklists | Printable before, during and after flight lists | Operations |
How the chart trainers work
The exam hands you a testing supplement with chart excerpts and asks what is true at a point on them, and since October 26, 2026 it also shows excerpts of current sectionals that are not in the supplement. The trainers use the supplement figures. Each hotspot explains one element, such as a Class D ring, a maximum elevation figure or an obstacle, and then you answer questions on that figure. 399 questions in the bank use these 16 figures. Start with the sectional chart reading guide.
How the weather decoder works
Paste or pick a METAR. Each token is decoded, and anything that conflicts with Part 107 is flagged: visibility under 3 statute miles, or a cloud layer low enough that the 500-foot clearance rule caps your altitude. The METAR guide and the cloud clearance post explain the rules behind the flags.
Diagrams in the explainers
Explainers include diagrams where a picture is clearer than text, such as the night operations flowchart and the 400-foot altitude diagram.
Decoder, decision trees and checklists need no account.
