Clear107 vs King Schools for Part 107 Prep

King Schools sells a $129 video ground school with a money-back pass guarantee. Clear107 Pro is $13.99 and skips video. Which fits depends on how you learn.

King Schools is one of the oldest names in pilot training, and its drone course carries that style: a video ground school taught in short segments, with FAA-style practice questions by subject and a money-back guarantee if you fail. Clear107 does not compete on video. It starts with a diagnostic and drills you on what you miss. The useful question is not which is better in general, but whether you want to be taught or tested.

King Schools Part 107 Drone Pilot Ground School & Test Prep, lifetime access

King Schools lists its Part 107 Drone Pilot Ground School & Test Prep at $129, with free lifetime access and automatic updates, and estimates a minimum of about 10 hours of study. Clear107 Pro is $13.99 once, with lifetime access, and Clear107 also offers a $4.99 monthly Practice Pass. The roughly 9x price difference reflects what you pay for: produced video instruction at King, practice and readiness tracking at Clear107.

How do they teach?

King Schools teaches. Its course page describes a self-paced video ground school in bite-sized segments, with FAA-style questions organized by subject matter, and the company is known for its long-running instructor-led video style. If you want someone to explain each topic before you are tested on it, that is the stronger fit.

Clear107 tests first. A free diagnostic scores you by ACS area, then sends you to short handbook sections keyed to the FAA's ACS codes, the same codes printed on a failed test report. Its bank holds 1,281 questions, 496 of them built on FAA charts and figures, and the 60-question simulator with Practice Pass runs the real format: 60 questions, 2 hours, 70% to pass.

How do the guarantees compare?

King Schools' page states two promises: return the course within 30 days if you are not satisfied, and if you fail your FAA test within one year of purchase, get your money back and keep the course. Clear107 Pro's 100% Readiness Pass Guarantee refunds the Pro price if you reach 100% readiness in Clear107 before your next FAA attempt and do not pass, with the conditions on the pass guarantee page. Clear107 also refunds any first purchase within 7 days.

Which should you pick?

Choose King Schools if you learn best by watching an instructor and want a long-established brand with a simple fail-and-refund promise. Choose Clear107 if you would rather find your weak spots fast, drill them, and pay a fraction of the price. Many candidates do both: a video course for the first pass and practice testing at the end. The full course post covers when a course is worth it.

King Schools explains the material. Clear107 finds what you keep missing.
