Part 107 Prep Prices and Pass Guarantees Compared

What eight Part 107 prep providers cost and what their pass guarantees actually promise, checked on each provider's own site on October 1, 2026.

"Pass guarantee" means very different things across Part 107 prep courses. Some refund the course and pay the $175 FAA testing fee, some pay only the retest fee, some refund the course but not the fee, and some offer nothing. Prices run from free tools to several hundred dollars. Below is what each provider listed on its own site on October 1, 2026. Prices and terms change, so check the provider's page before you buy.

What do the pass guarantees promise?

ProviderIf you fail the FAA testConditions stated by the provider
Pilot InstituteFull course refund plus $175Failing on your first try
Drone Pilot Ground SchoolCourse fee refund plus the $175 test center feeCompleting the course and scoring at least 85% on 3 practice tests
King SchoolsYour money back, and you keep the courseFailing within one year of purchase
DARTdronesFAA retest fee paid plus extra live prep; no course refundAll required modules within 90 days, at least 85% on three practice exams, exam within the eligibility period
Clear107 ProPro price refunded; FAA fee not coveredQualifying study path, 100% readiness, a full simulator run, claim within 14 days (details)
The Drone Coach, RemotePilot101.com, V1DroneMedia onlineNone listed on the pages we checkedNot applicable

Pilot Institute, Drone Pilot Ground School and King Schools also list 30-day satisfaction refunds.

Read the conditions before the headline. A guarantee that pays the retest fee and one that refunds the course are not the same promise.

How should you compare them?

  1. Total cost if you fail once. Add the course price and a second $175 testing fee, then subtract what the guarantee would return.
  2. What qualifying requires. Several guarantees require practice-test scores or course completion first. Those are reasonable, but plan for them.
  3. What the course teaches. Video courses teach from scratch; practice-first tools like Clear107 find and fix weak areas. The full course explainer covers which fits whom.
  4. How current it is. Check the material against the six signs in the outdated question bank post.
